Internationally acclaimed soprano, Seiko Lee, has established a reputation as a gifted singer both in the opera house and on the concert stage. She has enthralled audiences in Europe, South America, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States with her remarkable range and outstanding performances. Her concert tours have taken her to some of the world's preeminent venues including New York City's Lincoln Center, Manhattan Center and Madison Square Garden; Japan's National Sport Stadium, and Seoul's Olympic Stadium. She has performed for many world dignitaries including the Emperor of Japan, Sir Edward Heath of Britain, H.E. Kenneth Kuanda of Zambia, H.E. Rodrigo Escobar Navia of Columbia and H.E. Stanislav Shushkevich of Belarus. An accomplished pianist, flutist and musical arranger, Seiko Lee began her musical training at age five. During her first seven years as a performer she appeared with the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Children's Choir. She toured Europe as a soloist, including East Germany before that country's re-unification. A graduate of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts, she ranked highest in her music department. Her United States operatic debut was with the New York Henry Street Theater Opera in 1991. She has appeared with the La Scaletta Opera and the Connecticut Opera. In 1998 she presented a joint recital in Asuncion, Paraguay with national icon, Gloria del Paraguay. Since 1996 she has been a frequent soloist with the New York City Symphony and toured with the NYC Symphony Chamber Ensemble for concerts in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Connecticut and Washington, D.C. In 1998 and 1999 she appeared as a soloist at the Lincoln Center with New York's historic Goldman Memorial Band. In 2002 she appeared with the New York City Symphony Chamber Ensemble in the Temple Recital Series in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her first CD, “Song of Peace”, was released in 2001 followed by “Liberation” in 2005, a CD of Korean art songs dedicated to healing the enmity between Japan and Korea. Later that year, she traveled to Japan, South Korea, and North Korea by national invitation, where she sang at Kim Jung Il's birthday celebration. In November 2005, she appeared with the renowned Israeli vocalist, David D'Or in Jerusalem and in January 2006 she was a featured vocalist with the Rananna Symphony Orchestra in Tel Aviv at the world premiere of “Halelu,” a peace cantata co-composed by Mr. D'Or and American composer/conductor David Eaton. Beyond her career as a concert artist, Ms Lee has demonstrated a deep concern for issues of human rights and world peace. She is co-founder of the Artists Association for World Peace and contributed to numerous social and charitable activities for communities and schools in Nigeria, West Africa, and Guinea Bissau, including reconciliation projects in Rwanda.
